J. Robert Ewbank
J. Robert Ewbank is a third generation Methodist minister who graduated from Baker University, Baldwin, Kansas, in 1955 with a B.A. in psychology with honors and from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois with an M. Div. in theology in 1958. He returned three years later to work with Dr. Philip S. Watson on a master’s in the theology of John Wesley.

His father taught at Philander Smith College, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah.

His grandfather came over from England and preached at small Methodist churches in northern Arkansas and Kansas.

His first book is “John Wesley, Natural Man, and the ‘Isms.’ He has written and presented several talks and training classes on the theology of John Wesley. It covers the theological errors that Wesley found in the Jews, Roman Catholics, Deists, Mystics, Quakers and natural man.

His second book is “Wesley’s Wars,” and discusses the theological wars Wesley had to protect his followers from what he considered incorrect doctrine. The areas covered are Original Sin, Prevenient Grace vs Predestination, Christian Perfection and his relationships with the Church of England and the Moravian Church.

His third book is "To Whom It May Concern" and is a book of stories he remembers about his life and the lives of those near him. It is grouped around such topics as childhood, children, Baker University, Garrett-Theological, ministry, Echlin Inc., Hi-Lex Control, Wives, God and prostate cancer.

The Evangelical and United Brethren Church, Illinois Conference in 1964 asked him to discuss the theology of John Wesley.

HIs foourth book is "Tell me about the United Methodist Church: An Introduction to the United Methodist Church.

He lives in Mobile, Alabama, with his wife, Betty, and is active in his local church, Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
