Living Wisdom, Revised and Expanded

Hardcover |English |1532692153 | 9781532692154
Overview
Much more than knowledge or even understanding, wisdom is seeing life through the eyes of an awakened heart and transformed consciousness. Rather than being the result of the accumulation of information, wisdom comes from acquiring a new mind. Buddhists speak of this new mind as enlightenment. The Christian name for it is the mind and heart of Christ. This is the basis of wisdom.

Wisdom is grounded in a deep awareness of the sacredness and interconnectedness of everything in existence. It is living in alignment with the creative Spirit of Wisdom who inhabits all of creation and is our truest and deepest self. It is learning to participate in God's transformational agenda of cosmic whole-making, this being the way in which everything that exists becomes whole in Christ.

This book does not offer gems of wisdom. Instead, it seeks to facilitate the awakening of your heart and transformation of your consciousness that will allow wisdom to flow your from depths.

Editorial Reviews

"Our book club chose Living Wisdom to read and discuss. Not only were the chapters engaging and provocative but it brought us as a group--searching souls to be sure--closer together. Each of us found something in the book that spoke to us, challenged us, and nourished our own spiritual needs. More importantly, Dr. Benner illuminates the Christ-like wisdom of love and how it can penetrate our daily lives, if we want it to. The chapters on how such a wisdom can help us address the current environmental crisis are poignant, to say the least. This is a marvelous gem of a book, heralding a message so necessary to our current times."

--Mark Muldoon

"Living Wisdom is a much-needed accessible introduction to the Wisdom literature. Dr. Benner writes with the "simplicity that lies beyond complexity," presenting a brilliant and concise synthesis of insights on wisdom from a variety of theological, psychological, spiritual, and scientific traditions."

--Marilyn Johnson

"I am a Lakota Celtic (Irish) storyteller and Jesus follower. I see Truth in all places, things and people. I resonated deeply to this book, which doesn't surprise me as a reader (and sharer) of Dr. Benner's books and blog. Loved the 'Creation Care' finish!"

--Patrick Perching Eagle

"This book is full of insights about being human and living with wisdom. Much to meditate on and much appreciated!"

--Dr. David E. Reagan

"Thank you for this book. Your writing and wisdom have influenced me deeply."

--Philip Robers
