The Conscious Enneagram: How to Move from Typology to Transformation

Hardcover |English |1506465021 | 9781506465029
Overview

The Enneagram is a powerful tool, with ancient roots and modern appeal, for detailing the human personality. It illuminates the painful truth of where we are and inspires us with the promise of where we could be.

As the Enneagram has grown in popularity over the past 30 years, the insights offered have focused either on the present or the future, with little guidance on how to move from Point A to Point B. In the The Conscious Enneagram Abi Robins offers a rich, insightful guide for those seeking to move from patterns to promise.

Through practical, easy-to-understand coaching, storytelling, and personal inquiry, Robins explores three main ways for getting from where we are to where we could be: Practice, Lineage, and Community. These make up the three-legged stool of the inner and outer work required to radically change the way we think, feel, and move through the world. This book will show you how to cultivate each of these legs in your life in meaningful, enriching ways that are tailored to your type.

Editorial Reviews

"When you challenge your mind to stretch in new directions and implore your heart to move down new paths, doesn't it make sense that you would also ask your body to explore what's possible? In The Conscious Enneagram, Abi Robins will help you apply the lessons of the Enneagram to benefit your whole self. This is where full flourishing becomes possible." --Jen Hatmaker, New York Times best-selling author of For the Love and Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire

"There are many books describing the nine Enneagram types, but in The Conscious Enneagram Abi Robins provides excellent advice for what to do once you have learned the basic material. They show readers how to acquire the practices and relationships that will make their Enneagram studies a foundation for real growth and development in their life. This book takes an honored place in the growing library of books about the real soul and purpose of the Enneagram work." --Russ Hudson, coauthor of The Wisdom of the Enneagram

"Deeply researched and deeply lived, The Conscious Enneagram is the instruction manual for the other Enneagram book you already have on your nightstand. Abi Robins offers a more complete picture of ourselves and each other through their three-legged approach of practice, lineage, and community--returning us to the deep wisdom the Enneagram has been pointing us toward all along." --Jamie Lee Finch, author of You Are Your Own

"In The Conscious Enneagram, Abi Robins offers much-needed wisdom into the nitty-gritty of putting Enneagram theory into practice. With insight, directness, and compassion, Abi invites us to take our personal journeys into a more robust communal context--one that is founded on the 'three-legged stool' of practice, lineage, and the often-overlooked need for conscious community. For those circling around the 'what' of the Enneagram, this book helps you to make accessible the 'now what?'" --Nhiên Vuong, JD, MDiv, Founder of Evolving Enneagram

"The Conscious Enneagram does a thorough and engaging job of answering the question 'So you know your Enneagram type--now what?' Robins pierces directly into the 'how' of the Enneagram in this dynamic book: how to take your type from an unconscious ego fixation to an ongoing spiritual practice that challenges, elevates, and heals, every step of the way." --Heidi Priebe, author of The Comprehensive ENFP Survival Guide and How You'll Do Everything Based on Your Personality Type

"The Conscious Enneagram is the book you've been waiting for. Abi Robins cuts through confusion around the Enneagram and gives you a three-pronged key for unlocking its power. If you've ever suspected that the Enneagram is more than a personality game but have struggled to know how to use it, Robins will be a faithful guide." --Matthias Roberts, author of Beyond Shame

"Abi Robins has written a gem of a next-step book for anyone interested in living out the wisdom and practicalities of the Enneagram in day-to-day life. At the heart of Robins' contribution is a wise and clear voice charting the way to deeply integrate Enneagram wisdom as an everyday practice. Not only has Robins given us an important handbook for integrating the Enneagram; they have given the world their voice of wisdom, which is sure to leave its mark in every center of your being--mind, heart, and body." --Rev. Dr. Peter Traben Haas, contemplative author and minister of The Church of Conscious Harmony in Austin, Texas

A teacher, theologian, coach and Master Facilitator, Leslie Hershberger offers both corporate and contemplative workshops, retreats, keynotes throughout the US and in Europe. She integrates the Enneagram, three-centered contemplative practice and Integral Theory.
