The Leadership Imperative

Hardcover |English |1532638760 | 9781532638763
Overview

The topic of leadership is ubiquitous in today's era of experts, scholars, and gurus. With a host of voices promoting a myriad of views on this topic, it is hard for one to determine who or what is correct. This book gets to the heart of the issue by providing an unashamed and historic basis for leading others, using biblical truth as the standard. The postmodern epoch is fraught with confusion, relativity, and chaos as basic terms are redefined, historic truths are maligned, and cultural mores are upended. Consequently, leaders in this time are often just as confused as their followers who are leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Fortunately, there are answers for those seeking to lead with confidence based on something much grander than personal opinion or subjective reasoning. In this work, Dr. Liebhauser explains the pitfalls leaders face in these fluid times of resistance to anything authoritative while providing sound principles by which to effectively lead. The reader will appreciate learning about the historical dynamic which fueled postmodern thinking and find hope in the time-tested remedies this book provides. ""It is prime time for following the leadership calling, and The Leadership Imperative is Liebhauser's unashamedly Christian proclamation for what's going on, how to address it, and the bravery needed to move flocks upward and onward to better pastures. His discussions on leading by communicating and the critical relevance of life-offering, trial-embracing, crucible-encountering love to God-honoring leadership will stir your soul and refresh your calling."" --Dr. David Stehlik, Adjunct Graduate Professor and Leadership Education Consultant ""Liebhauser provides a unique perspective that is of the greatest value to anyone seeking to lead effectively, with servanthood, and to be God-honoring. His insights are fresh and tailored to both the novice and experienced leader, with a biblical perspective that will deepen any leader's walk. Hope is the foundation, and this alongside the commitment of leaders to seek Christ and his ways lend themselves to better leadership, organizations, and ultimately a better world."" --Dr. Kathleen Patterson, Professor, Director, Doctorate of Strategic Leadership Program ""Is the Reformed tradition a life-giving guide for leaders in this postmodern age? Scott Liebhauser will show you that it is. More than that, Scott knows leadership means little unless it involves serving and loving God and others. Let this study move both your head and your heart, and lead well."" --Mark Mellinger, Broadcast Journalist, Writer, Focus on the Family Citizen Magazine, Knoxville, Tennessee Dr. Scott D. Liebhauser is Adjunct Professor for Regent University's College of Arts and Science specializing in Leadership Theory. His area of research is biblically based servant leadership models. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 2011, he began a new journey by leading multiple STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education academies for ""at-risk"" youth. Over the last two decades, Liebhauser has led weekly Bible Study groups at his home. He and his wife, Francine, have two sons: Joshua (wife Rhachel) and Jacob.
