Overview

The Signs of the Christ Teacher's Guide

The Gospel of John is the quintessential "odd man out." It is the unique Gospel among all four and presents Jesus in a very special light. The key to understanding the Gospel of John is an awareness of its purpose. John was not interested in offering a biography of Jesus. His purpose was to "prove" that Jesus was the Messiah.

John accomplished his purpose by drawing attention to the seven signs Jesus tendered during his ministry on earth. By focusing on the signs, John revealed the work of God the Father through his Son. And that work advances proof of his Messiahship.

The Signs of the Christ book (sold separately) explains Christ's signs and manifestations in a way that no one has to date. The reader is drawn into a world of theological wonder, the result of which is a deeper insight into this marvelous, Christ-honoring work.

The Signs of the Christ Teacher's Guide is intended to be used along with The Signs of The Christ book (i.e., the Teacher's Guide is NOT designed for standalone use). The Teacher's Guide is integrated with The Signs of the Christ book and Study Guide, helping small group leaders, pastors, professors and scholars seamlessly introduce their constituents to the depths and riches of the Gospel of John.

Editorial Reviews

"Anytime one travels to an unfamiliar place, it is wise to secure the talents of a guide--someone who knows the terrain and is familiar with the best roads for safe passage. In The Signs of the Christ: A New Perspective on John's Gospel, Dr. Taylor has given us just that. Here we have the insights of an experienced guide whose familiarity with the Gospel writer's territory enables the traveler to navigate to a trove of truth treasure. Any serious Bible student would benefit from this great book!"

--Mike Harland, Director, LifeWay Worship Resources

"The Signs of the Christ is a journey worth taking, for each 'sign' illustrates the divine authority entrusted to Christ, and each symbol is a further manifestation that He is the person of Christ! Therefore, without reservation, let me recommend for your reading pleasure, The Signs of the Christ, by J. Rodney Taylor."

--Dr. John R. Bisagno, Preacher and Theologian

"Dr. Taylor's thoughtful, scholarly reflections on the Gospel of John provide a fascinating interpretation of the fourth Gospel. Dr. Taylor brings his lifelong study of scripture, active involvement in church, and deep devotion to Christ to this study. He shows us the dramatic way the Fourth Gospel highlights Jesus' divinity and preserves Jesus' humanity. He takes us scene by scene, using careful exposition of scripture while also summarizing John's plot. Any student of scripture or Bible study class will grow in their knowledge and faith because of Dr. Taylor's work."

--William D. Shiell, Ph.D., President & Professor, Pastoral Theology and Preaching, Northern Seminary

The Signs of the Christ is a useful tool for new believers to understand that Jesus is fully divine just as he is fully human. It is also a commentary available to pastors, teachers, and theologians who will appreciate the author's careful exegesis of key passages. Taylor demonstrates that each of the signs is 'wrapped in the marvel of a miracle, ' revealing the authority of the Messiah and pointing to symbolism beyond itself.

The manifestations of John's Gospel are not proof that Jesus is the Messiah, rather they offer qualities that point to him as a Messianic figure. John writes as an eyewitness of the one who gave his life and was raised from the dead to give life to those who believe. Taylor's book will help us to communicate to believers and nonbelievers alike that Jesus is the Messiah."

  • Item(s) returned to us that were not a result of our error.

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, please Contact Us with your order number and details about the product you would like to return. We will respond quickly with instructions for how to return items from your order.

Shipping Cost

We'll pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.). In other cases, you will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
